SIGEL SPORTSMEN’S CLUB NEWS RELEASE
The 3rd
ANNUAL- STATEWIDE- RIFLE DEER SEASON COYOTE HUNT,
being sponsored by the Sigel Sportsmen’s
Club is quickly approaching. Monday November 26th, the first
day of the regular deer season, is the start of the 2007 hunt. Actually
the hunt coincides with deer season and starts at the legal shooting
time statewide and continues until the close of the regular deer season,
Saturday December 8th.
Last years hunt
produced 26 coyotes taken by deer hunters, during the 2 week deer
season. This years kill is expected to increase due to the numbers of
coyotes being observed during normal summer activities. Coyotes may be
the number one fawn predator.
The Sigel Sportsmen
have scheduled Saturday and Sunday, November 24th and 25th,
as “Hunt Registration Days”, for deer hunters that have camps in
the Cook Forest area. Those hunters that wish to participate in the hunt
can come to the Sigel Sportsmen’s Clubhouse, located 1 mile north of
Sigel off route 949; 11AM to 3PM on Saturday or Sunday and complete
their hunt registration. Club members will be present during those hours
each day. Hunters are welcome to tour our facility and have the
opportunity to become a member of the club. Membership is not mandatory
to enter the hunt, but membership applications will be available.
A $10.00 hunt
registration, good for 1 coyote, can be purchased at the following
locations also; Richs Outdoor World, Summerville; Iroquois Archery,
Brookville; Route 66
Sporting Goods, Shippenville; Elk County Ammo & Arms, St Mary’s;
Shooting Corner Rt 219 N/Dubois; McCrea’s Gun Shop ,Fenelton; Shultz
Sportsmen’s Stop, Apollo, Gone For The Day, Rt 422, Elderton and
Camper's Paradise, Sigel, Pa.
Fifty percent of the proceeds
collected will be divided equally between coyotes taken.
